Armenia is located in Eurasia's South Caucasus region and sits in the southeastern region of Europe or Western Asia. It is a landlocked country with many mountains rivers and lakes. The nation also sits within the Northern and Eastern hemispheres. Armenia is also bordered by Georgia to the north and Azerbaijan to the east. Iran lies to the southeast, and Turkey is to the west. Many people view themselves as European, but others feel an attachment to the Middle East. There is some disagreement over the geography of the country due to its unique location. Armenia became the world's first Christian country in 301 AD.
