Glossary
Dealer terms
- Shoe
- The box the cards are dealt from, usually holding six or eight decks. So what: the number of decks changes the odds slightly in blackjack.
- Shift
- A dealer's working block at a table before the next dealer takes over. So what: a dealer change does not change the game.
- Native-language table
- A table where the dealer speaks one language other than English. So what: the odds match the English table; only the language and hours differ.

What does a live dealer do?

Can a live dealer influence the result?
Results come from physical cards, wheels and dice read by scanners or cameras, and the rules fix every dealer decision. The dealer has no choice that changes the odds.
Should I tip a live dealer?
It is optional. Some tables offer a tip button; it does not change your odds or the game.
