Greece, a country that is officially and diplomatically known as the Hellenic Republic, is located in Southeast Europe. In 2018 the official population number was 10.7 million, with Athens as its largest city and capital of the country. Greece also has the longest coastline in the Mediterranean Basin, and in its territory, it includes a huge number of islands, 227 of which are inhabited.
Greece shares its borders with Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Turkey, it is also known as the country in which the so-called Western civilization began, the place where democracy was born, Western literature, and political sciences, not to forget the Olympic Games.
As a political entity, Greece is a unitary parliamentary republic, and it is known as a developed country, with high numbers on the quality-of-life index, which ranks very high in the Human Development Index. The economy of Greece is the largest and most powerful in the Balkan, where they emerged as an important investor. Greece is also one of the founding members of the UN, the 10th country to join the European Communities, and has been part of the Eurozone since 2001.
