Its borders are the Pacific Ocean (west), Colombia (north), and Peru (east and south). It has a land area of about 110,000 square miles. Its capital city, Quito, is one of its most populous areas globally, with a population of about 1.5 million.
Ecuador is the location of the Galapagos Islands, a popular tourist spot to explore wildlife, white-sand beaches, volcanic landscapes, vibrant local festivals, and diving opportunities. It's also the home of a well-preserved colonial center and the Amazon Rainforest.
