Officially known as the United Mexican States, Mexico is a country in the southern part of North America. It traces its origins to 8,000 BC and it is identified as one of the six cradles of civilization. That means that Mexico has a rich history and a long tradition. A good proof of that is the fact that Mexico ranks first in the Americas and seventh in the world for the number of heritage sites by UNESCO.
When it comes to the borders of this country, Mexico borders the United States of America to the north, Belize, Guatemala, and the Caribbean Sea to the southeast. the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and to the east by the Gulf of Mexico. The recognized language in Mexico is Spanish, and this federation consists of 31 states with Mexico City being the capital.
As for its economy, Mexico is a developing country but still has the 15th largest economy by nominal GDP in the world. It also ranks 11th by PPP. One of the biggest problems that Mexico is currently facing is social inequality, crime, and corruption. An interesting fact about it is that Mexico is one of the 17 megadiverse countries and ranks 5th in biodiversity.
