The shilling, issued by the Bank of Uganda, is the country's national currency. Locally, it is usually abbreviated as 'USh" but its official international code is UGX. It was first issued in 1966, replacing the East African Shilling as Uganda established its financial independence and sovereignty after colonization.
As of 2013, the Ugandan Shilling did not have a division unit - there are no Ugandan Cents. The coin denominations are 1, 2, 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 shillings. The banknotes are 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000 and 50000 shillings. Here is a list, and brief reviews, of the live casinos that support the Ugandan Shilling.
