Lightning Roulette is Evolution's European roulette with one twist: every round, one to five Lucky Numbers are struck by lightning and given a multiplied payout between 50x and 500x. To pay for that, a straight-up win on any other number pays 29:1. All other bets pay as in standard European roulette.

What a strategy can and cannot change

The wheel has 37 pockets, 0–36, and every spin is independent. A strategy cannot change the chance of a number landing or the RTP of 97.30% that the game is listed with. It can change three things: which bets you place, how much of your bankroll each bet uses, and when you stop.

The results board shows recent numbers and Lucky Numbers. It is a record, not a forecast: a number that hit five times in the last 100 spins has the same 1 in 37 chance on the next one. Treating streaks as signals is the gambler's fallacy, and the same applies to numbers that seem to attract lightning.

Straight-up bets or outside bets

The multipliers only reach straight-up bets, so the choice of bet type sets how your session feels. The return over a long run stays close to the same.

On straight-ups, most of the value sits in a few Lucky Number hits. If you play 37 straight-up spins at $1, you have about a 64% chance of hitting your number at least once, and a hit without lightning returns $30 (stake plus 29). Expect sessions where you lose most of the 37 dollars and a few where one strike pays for many sessions.

Outside bets do not get multipliers, so you trade the chance of a 500x for smoother results. Mixing both is fine as long as you size the straight-ups as the part of the budget you are ready to lose.

Size bets to the volatility

Straight-up play is high volatility. A simple rule is to keep each straight-up stake small enough that a run of 50–100 losing spins does not end the session. With a $100 session budget at the $1 table minimum listed for the game, that is 100 straight-up bets.

Spreading a stake over several numbers raises the chance of a hit, not the long-run return. Five $1 straight-ups win on 5 of 37 pockets, but four of the five dollars lose whenever one of them hits.

Systems that raise the stake after a loss, such as the Martingale, do not suit a 29:1 bet: the losing runs are long enough to reach the $5,000 table maximum or the end of your budget first. If you want a fixed rule, flat betting keeps the stake the same on every spin.

Set the stop points before you start

Decide a loss limit and a time limit for the session before the first spin, and stop when either is reached. A win goal is useful too: Lightning Roulette's large wins are rare, so leaving after one is a reasonable plan. Most licensed casinos let you set deposit, loss and session limits in the account settings. If roulette stops being fun, see our responsible gaming page.

Bonuses and Lightning Roulette

Many casinos exclude live roulette from bonus wagering or count only a small share of each bet. Read the game contribution table in the bonus terms before you play Lightning Roulette with bonus money. Cashback on live casino losses, where offered, is usually easier to use with this game than a deposit bonus.

Other Lightning versions

Evolution runs other versions of the format, including XXXtreme Lightning Roulette with higher multipliers and a different straight-up payout. Check the paytable in the game's help screen before you apply anything in this guide to another version.
