Cape Verde, also known as Cabo Verde, is an island country and archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. It's actually 10 volcanic islands and islets divided into two, the Barlavento and Sotavento islands. The islands and islets form a portion of Macronesia and have a total land area of over 1,550 square miles.
Because of its location in the center of the Atlantic Ocean, it's not as commonly visited as most vacation sites such as Italy and Germany. However, many people miss the convenience and accessibility it offers. Notably, it has over five international and domestic airports, allowing it to offer direct flights from European countries.
